Mercy Watson Something Wonky This Way Comes by Kate DiCamillo

The sixth in the Mercy Watson series is here!  After reading the title aloud to my kids, 2 of them immediately asked "What's wonky?"  This book is definitely full of characters, Mercy mischief, lots of buttery foods (Mercy's favorite), new language and vocabulary for transitional readers and lots to talk about.

Mercy enjoys a night at the drive-in and is drawn to the buttery smell of popcorn!!  Mr. and Mrs. Watson see nothing wonky in taking their porcine wonder to the Bijou Drive-In.  Others disagree. In fact, most of your favorite characters are in their usual quest to find and catch Mercy (who decides to kick up her heels and run faster because all her friends are chasing her).  The story ends with a familiar gathering at the Watson's for buttered toast after Mercy has been rescued.

For Mercy Watson lovers, it is one more adventure to dive into!!!

I think if you know Ray Bradbury's story/movie "Something Wicked This Way Comes" this book might be even more funny! I know "Wicked" but not "Wonky" so I'll have to check Mercy against Ray and see for myself!
